Incredible India Incredible Gujarat

the beach at Mandvi palace

Beautiful places to visit in Gujarat.

I have visited almost every place in Gujarat, which are famous. But my trip to Kutch Bhuj Mandvi was really very special.
I loved the places i visited there.I was with my wife and a friend and his wife.

The district Kutch is just 400 km far from Ahmadabad ,it will take almost 6 hour travelling by car.If you are using CNG as fuel then,Get in mind that there are no CNG station in Kutch.
It is going to be a year i visited these places but the memories are still very fresh.
One day in Bhuj is more than enough to look The things around.around. Bhuj wasn't that beautiful as i imagined, But it was nice.

PRAG MAHAL : it was wonderful...many Bollywood films have been shot there...i mean some of film's scene were shot there.few of those films are Lagan,Hum dil de chuke sanam ,
this beautiful palace was built in 1879.
The thing that makes this palace special is its  45 feet tower ,from where you can see entire Bhuj city.

there is also one more palace there its
AINA MAHAL;

its also as beautiful as Prag mahal. the main thing that make this palace special is lots of mirror every where you look around.
please visit these places in winter , and must not in summer.......even though you are history lover you will sweat heavily inside the palace.
If you have visited Udaipur then you will feel nothing new visiting these palaces, but if you are visiting Kutch and you are not visiting these palaces then, what does  it  worth to visit Kutch, :D don't worry there are still a lots of things to visit there.

Prag mahal and Aina mahal both are next to each other, things you can see there are,
traditional cloths those emperor used to wear
paintings
arts of that time
weapons
the court
music room
bed room
carved stonework

The musical room was really wonderful.all the artist were used to sit in the center and the king little upstairs in his superb chair, between them there was a water filled gap of 2 to 3 foot with continuous flowing water.that the place of listening music with the peace.

well ,one can wish these palaces to visit in solitary area but they are in the middle of Bhuj. There are many narrow streets around them, makes the place little congested.

Now if you are feeling hungry there then  go for Double Roti. there is a very big colony of fast food where you can taste delicious food.
one of the most famous fast food of Kutch. in other words we call it Dabeli also.

well, there is a Swaminarayan Temple

that's really very beautiful.... just have blessing of god and relax there.you will find peaceful atmosphere there, thousands of people come everyday to visit the Temple. One must see it, it is very huge ,They provide all the facilities , food and for stay. if  you are running out of budget then this temple is best option to stay there with the minimum fees, or you are in Kutch to relax yourself ,if you wanna feel something amazing something different than usual life then go for the Kutch Safari lodge. i will explain you about that later....

Now if you are thinking to buy something from kutch then you must know what are the special things of Kutch?
their Culture, Cloths in Traditional manner, their handicrafts , right?. So there is a place which is just 7 km far from Bhuj where you will find Handicrafts and Traditional hand made cloths, handmade embroidery. The place is called Bhujodi
It's a village ,where all the villagers have the same profession ,different families in the village are known for different arts, so can collect some of your favorite arts, ok on the way to Bhujodi from Bhuj there is a Restorent Ras vatika. Provides very good food, their service indeed very good.so leisure there while you return.

If you are thinking to stay in some hotels then you can find many over there, but if you are pissed of your routine life and you wanna feel nature , the silence ,breeze of peace, lovely sounds of birds and creatures then must stay at Kutch safari lodge.Just Google it and you will find more detail and pics about this resort.its really very pretty,

I think after monsoon the scenery becomes  really dashing ,very beautiful and you will feel like you are in lap of god.In this resort you will stay in tent kind of hut, but with all the accommodations, service is fantastic, this resort is situated on highest peak of Bhuj, so its kind of hill station,They have restaurant as well from where you can see the so many lakes down, that's the best time to enjoy food.
The morning view is so beautiful, don't be lazy waking up early or you will miss the beautiful scenery. Some of the tents of this resort are just adjacent to lake makes your staying more romantic there.  .on down view you will find water and water every where...makes the resort more gorgeous.
morning view at Kutch safari lodge resort

This resort is a little costly but it really worth, lunch ,dinner and breakfast included in package.so guys just enjoy your time there with goodness of nature.I strongly recommend you for this Resort.

after leaving the resort you have many options to look around but if you are for 2 to 3 days tour then just head your car to the Mandvi.
Mandvi is famous for the beach ,Gujarat has very few beaches but what it have is all beautiful..

well first go to Mandvi beach....its local beach every tourist visit it,and have fun there.one can go for camel riding and horse riding ,can enjoy the wind mill view as well. Its crowdy place.people take bath there, they play games in the sea.in short its nice place.

But if you don't like such congested location and wanting to have some privacy  then lets go to some private beach, before that we will go to   vijay vilas palace , One of the most famous palaces ,Great location. The palace was built in 1929,it took 10 years to complete the palace.

Vijay vilas palace is about 5 km far from local beach.
vijay vilas palace
the palace is constructed with different stones from all over the India and by so many artists.the surrounding is so solitary kind of jungle.i really love such things.
The Vijay vilas palace is so beautiful that so many Bollywood movies scene has been shot here.
some of them are
SAVAN BELI SONG - FROM MOVIE COMMANDO
this song is so melodious was shot in Vijay vilas, The beach at Mandvi palace and the White desert. All these three places are in Kutch,so day by day The Kuch district is becoming popular among people and it has become a very good tourist place...

SAREE KE FALL SA song from R RAJ KUMAR was also shot there...the same plot Vijay vilas, white desert and the beach at Mandvi palace.

So many scenes from the movie HUM DIL DE CHUKE SANAM and recen,Then Lagaan Movie, many of Local movies, and recently the Desert scene from RAM LEELA.

In short Bolly wood has eyed on Kutch,Thats why people say Kutch nahi dekha to kuch nahi dekha. On the terrace of Vijay vilas you will find most beautiful views, you would just sit there and enjoy the beauty of nature and the creation of vijay vilas, capturing some pics there really amazing.i  visited the palace when it was ending of summer but the temperature wasn't down it was sweating but on the terrace i really felt very good, the cool wind was blowing,it was relaxing and wonderful.

There is a kind of jungle around some animals were grazing there, some birds and plants were completely new for me,it was nice to see all those.
There is canteen out side if you are felling hungry then they provide really good fast food and some cold drinks ,ice cream and tea ,coffee etc....One can spend more than 4 - 5 hours with Vijay vilas palace. If you are visiting in group then you will surely enjoy there..

Now The place that will turn your tour to the most memorable tour is The Beach at Mandvi Palace. It is just near to The Vijay vilas Palace.the Beach is private property of Royal family of Maharao Shri Khengarji III.
The beach provides fully furnished and accommodated ,air conditioned tents and private beach.
The Beach is just not private it is very safe as well,no other visitors are allowed there.they have only 1 tents there so maximum of 20 to 25 people you will find on beach if it is house full! if you are planning to visit in off season as we did, then may be just you are alone the whole beach is yours....

I think visiting the beach while its full moon night is perfect because you can enjoy your time at beach even its night...Beach has umbrellas and wooden comfortable long chairs under the umbrellas those are also wooden and roof of hay.

what you can do on private beach?

They provides volly ball that you can play there...and they have ground for that as well.
If you have dream to play cricket on beach then you are allowed they will give you bat and ball.
you can go for hours ridding and camel ridding.
The beach is so lovely and very wide as far as you can see its all yours beach, so can go for long walk.
If you are newly married couple then you will feel so roamantic there,Honeymoon can be planned on this beach resort.
The entire family can have such great time together, can play some games there.
Getting wet in the sea is also thrilling, the waves are floating vigorously bringing you back to the sore,so you can play inside the sea as well ,can swim there, but advised not to go very deep inside.

The beach is really awesome ...we had so much fun there.
Dinner was very well served. the restaurant was such located as you can see the beach while having dinner.
The tents were very nicely designed ,a small tent with all 4 star facilities.

it was hectic scheduled so couldent roam everywhere in the Kutch. But here i am listing  some other places you can visit

Lala Bustard Sanctuary
This grassland 74-km north of Mandvi is a superbly maintained wilderness area. Abode of the endangered Indian bustard and the monsoon breeding area of the rare lesser florican, this grassland is also good for seeing Indian gazelle, Indian and desert foxes, jackal, the endangered Indian wolf and birds like the black francolin. The coastal marshes between the sanctuary and the fishing port of Jakhau (known for its excellent lobsters, crabs and pomfret) attract large flocks of flamingo. There is an excellent Forest Rest House at Naliya with attractive rooms and western baths but only Kutchi thalis are available at the nearby restaurants.
Jain Pilgrimage
Mandvi is an ideal base to visit the 72-Jinalaya, the Jain complex at Badreshwar, and the Jain temples of Naliya and Tera.
Hindu Pilgrimage
The shore temples of Koteshwar and Narayan Sarovar are among the westernmost points in India where tourists gathered to witness the last country’s last sunset during the millennium. Narayan Sarovar is one of the five major holy lakes of India like Mansarovar in the Himalaya, Pushkar in Rajasthan, Bhubaneshwar in Eastern India and Pampasarovar in South India. The fortified town of Lakpath near the border with Pakistan has a gurudwara believed to commemorate the place from where Guru Nanak embarked for Mecca. Ashapura Mata is an important temple near Narayan Sarovar.

Paragsar: An enchanting private preserve of the Maharao of Kutch with forests, orchards and a large lake where crocodiles, fresh-water turtles and storks can be watched from the shady embankments. The Samma village here is worth a visit.

Vithon Fossil Park: Mohan Singh Sodha’s private collection of fossils is an interesting mix of finds open for visitors for a fee. This includes petrified wood, fruits and vegetables some which date back millions of years, fossilised shells of crustaceans and a shark skeleton that ratify the marine past of the Rann of Kutch, dinosaur fossils, jurassic stone found from the ridges near Bhuj.

Banni Bird Sites: Drive to Nakhatrana from Mandvi through the grasslands and marshes of Banni, specially good for eagles and important stopover places for migrating birds.

thiss was around Bhuj and Mandvi.... but if you have more time then still so many places you would love to see are..

Mata  no math-(Ashapura mata temple)-very well known temple ,it was built in 14th sentury.theere is interesting story behind it.a very very long time ago while  anno domini there was a king named Gulamshah ,his army attacked this temple and all the soldiers became blind by the curse of godess Ashapura mata. that time it was just small temple...the original one, recently the same temple lies high above the big temple.
so the king Gulamshah took a swear to set up a huge bell in the temple. Finally, his soldiers regained their sight and Gulamshah kept his words. The huge bell still stands there in temple

The Government of Gujarat hosts an annual 3 day festival called the Rann Utsav (festival of the Rann), where tourists can see the various sights of the Rann as well as get a taste of the local culture, cuisine and hospitality. Specially built local houses are also used to house tourists to give them a taste of them. Many adventure clubs and travel clubs organize expeditions.

Kala Dungar: it is called Black Hill as well, that is the heightest pick point of Bhuj...
From where you can see Pakistan...
There is a temple of Dattatrey Built there so people go for worship..there is very interesting story behind that
The Kala Dungar is  famous for a 400 year old Dattatreya temple. Legend says that when Dattatreya walked on the earth, he stopped at the Black Hills and found a band of starving jackals. Being a god, he offered them his body to eat and as they ate, his body continually regenerated itself. Because of this, for the last four centuries, the priest at the temple has prepared a batch ofprasad, cooked rice, that is fed to the jackals after the evening aarti
